The RISC team's charter is to protect Amazon customers from products that are illegal, illegally marketed, unsafe, or otherwise prohibited by Amazon policies. In this role, you will work closely with legal, business teams, selling partner experience and support teams, operational excellence, product, BI and data science/engineering teams to deliver high-impact end-to-end safety and compliance solutions. Think of this role as a non-technical "solution architect" where you will be given autonomy to develop a strategy and build effective policy enforcements to ensure product safety and compliance worldwide.
The Risk Manager drives the development and implementation of new tools and programs that advance the store's global safety and compliance efforts. This role requires influencing cross-functional stakeholders, planning strategic projects with legal and business partners, securing team commitments, and developing daily, weekly, and monthly metrics while ensuring compliance with Amazon quality standards and regulatory program expectations.
Key job responsibilities
Conducting risk assessments for existing processes and new product launches and recommending risk mitigation measures such as process improvements, training initiatives, and strategic interventions.
- Knowledge of retail food code and regulations governing grocery retail at local, state, and federal levels
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience handling confidential information
- Experience interacting with local food safety regulators
- Speak, write, and read fluently in English
- Compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, risk/loss prevention, or equivalent experience
- Managing food safety and quality in a large-scale retail or manufacturing environment experience
- Experience with SQL and Excel
- Program requirements definition and data and metrics leveraging to drive improvements experience

Basic qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science or related field- Knowledge of retail food code and regulations governing grocery retail at local, state, and federal levels
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience handling confidential information
- Experience interacting with local food safety regulators
- Speak, write, and read fluently in English
- Compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, risk/loss prevention, or equivalent experience
- Managing food safety and quality in a large-scale retail or manufacturing environment experience
Preferred qualifications
- Professional auditing qualification, or similar risk or compliance credentials- Experience with SQL and Excel
