About the role

Would you enjoy providing support for our Chief Financial Officer's decision making, uncovering insights into Amazon's many businesses and investments, and building the tools to do this at scale? We're seeking a self-starter with strong critical thinking and a passion for finding better ways to do things. This role will interest candidates looking for experience analyzing Amazon at a macro level, creating new ways to measure business performance, and helping craft the narrative around our company's near and mid-term outlook.

This position on the Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis team will work closely with various stakeholders including Accounting, Finance, and Financial systems teams to solve complex problems that directly impact Amazon's internal and external financial reporting. The successful candidate will be able to interpret financial results, effectively communicate a business narrative, and implement mechanisms for new reporting insights at scale with a goal to make our data more actionable.

Key job responsibilities
- Design new financial insights and enhance existing financial reporting that enables informed decision-making for senior leadership across Amazon's global operations
- Present ad hoc business analysis and recommendations to senior management by diving deep to build analyses, models, and narratives with broad scope that deliver results
- Own corporate finance reporting definitions and ensure consistency across the finance organization, monitoring for accuracy and establishing processes to audit data and reporting
- Serve as a liaison between accounting and system teams to drive accurate close, navigating across organizations to identify the right teams to participate in discussions
- Recommend improvements and provide scoping documents for system enhancements, identifying opportunities to implement large-scale financial solutions that simplify finance tools, technology, and processes

A day in the life
You'll start your day reviewing financial results and identifying trends that need deeper investigation. Throughout the day, you'll collaborate with Accounting, Finance, and Financial systems teams to resolve complex data integrity issues while building scalable reporting mechanisms. Between close, planning, and reporting cycles, you'll lead projects to enhance our financial reporting capabilities and implement automation that makes our data more accessible and reliable.



About the team
The team is part of Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis and provides all global reporting for Amazon to the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive Officer. We create robust, fast, and reliable financial reporting that enables strategic decision-making at the highest levels of the company.

Our team operates at the intersection of finance, accounting, and technology, solving complex challenges that impact how Amazon understands and communicates its financial performance. Basic qualifications

- 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- 5+ years of multiple finance and accounting roles experience
- 5+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science), or Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience

Preferred qualifications

- 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
- 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
- MBA, or CPA
- Knowledge of SQL/ETL
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
- Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
