About the role

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for an experienced and motivated technical leader to grow and lead a team of Solutions Architects responsible for the Canadian Federal Government, National Security and Defense, and Financial Services customers. In this role you and your team will partner with sellers as part of an account team, to drive business outcomes for your customers. You will lead, motivate, and coach your team in developing relationships with technical executives, guide customers in using architecture best practices, partner with product teams to invent new solutions on behalf of your customers, and develop internal processes. You will also coach your team in scaling their learnings through internal and external publications and speaking engagements. You will need to be technically capable and credible in your own right as well as effective in shaping the customer and solutions-focused skills of your team. You must enjoy learning and introducing new technology in order to help colleagues and customers embrace and adopt new technology. You will also need to be adept at interacting, communicating and partnering with other teams within AWS such as services teams, marketing, and professional services, as well as representing your team to executive management.

The ideal candidate will have past experience working as a Solutions Architect or similar role and managing a team of Solutions Architects. Key job responsibilities
- As a key member of the business development and sales management teams, ensure success in building and migrating applications, software and services onto the AWS platform
- In partnership with the sales team, formulate and execute a sales strategy to exceed revenue objectives through the adoption of AWS
- Hire, on-board, train, and develop new Solutions Architects from internal and external sources
- Coach Solutions Architects in the skills needed to conduct one-to-few and one-to-many training sessions so they can transfer deep technical skills to customers who are considering or using AWS
- Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the AWS solutions architect community
- Guide and motivate the development of whitepapers, data sheets, and other high-value customer facing guidance and best practices
- Act as a conduit and liaison between customers, service engineering teams and support

Basic qualifications

- 8+ years of managing a technical team of solution architects, sales engineers or similar technical roles experience
- 5+ years of in design/implementation/operations/consulting with distributed applications experience
- Experience architecting/operating solutions built on any cloud service provider like Azure, AWS, GCP, OCI, etc.

Preferred qualifications

- Experience architecting, migrating, transforming or modernizing customer requirements to the cloud
- Knowledge of software development tools and methodologies

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
