Key job responsibilities
You will be responsible for driving all aspects of the First Mile analytics roadmap — the leg that moves inventory from our fulfillment and sort centers into the transportation network. This spans first-mile topology and connectivity, inbound-to-outbound flow design, FC-to-middle-mile injection, truck building and linehaul optimization out of our sites. The objective is to design the First Mile setup that lets us offer faster speed (including Same Day on a subset of the selection) at cost-parity with the rest of Store on a 3Y horizon. This is a role for an exceptionally talented person, with high energy and courage, passionate about delivering concrete improvement for our customers, and who wants to achieve that using data.
The role includes 40% of stakeholder/project management and 60% analytical activities.
Innovation & Stakeholder/Project management
Leverage planning and analytics tools developed by Science teams to assess the optimal First Mile topology, connectivity and flows
Use and share your insights with partner teams to influence strategic decisions (e.g. site connectivity, injection points, first-mile transportation design)
For the most complex and ambitious opportunities, quickly launch new pilots, and build scale-up business cases with benefits, bottlenecks, risks and resources required
For the algorithmic opportunities, work with teams of software developers and research scientists to design the next round of software innovation
Lead regular business reviews with partner teams to monitor the progress of projects in the roadmap. Help remove bottlenecks
Consolidate progress into crisp and concise data-driven status updates. You will own reporting to Amazon senior leadership (VP-level).
Data Analytics/Science
Deep dive complex data to uncover actionable insights for known and unknown problems
Good expertise with financial modelling (P&L, cashflow, mix/rate)
Candidates must be able to think and operate at all levels (both strategically and tactically).
