Key job responsibilities
Amazon is seeking a Tax Manager to join its Direct Tax Reporting team in Hyderabad, India. This role drives the Worldwide CapEx team's delivery of foreign jurisdiction income tax consequences across Amazon's extensive global asset portfolio. Areas of focus include operating and finance leases, depreciation of fixed assets, amortization of intangibles, cost recovery of digital content, and strategic tax planning for capital-intensive jurisdictions. The Tax Manager will play a key role in driving process transformation, stakeholder alignment, and capability development across the Foreign CapEx function.
A successful candidate will have strong technical expertise in international tax compliance and reporting, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. The ability to drive strategic initiatives, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and scale processes through automation and technology is highly valued

• Own end-to-end preparation and review of CapEx-related foreign country tax adjustments for global subsidiaries across multiple jurisdictions
• Manage the annual deferred tax rollforward for all jurisdictions with book-to-tax differences, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of deliverables
• Drive forecasting of current and future depreciation expense for local foreign tax planning, including scenario analysis for legislative changes such as Full Expensing, Super Deduction, and jurisdiction-specific capital allowance regimes
• Provide technical guidance on complex tax positions including IFRS 16 lease treatment, cost segregation studies, tax transformation and automation initiatives, and IAS 12 deferred tax computations
• Support and mentor Tax Analysts, contributing to knowledge sharing and team capability development
• Partner with external service providers (PwC, EY, Deloitte) and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely inclusion of tax deliverables across compliance, provision, and return cycles
• Own and drive tax transformation and automation initiatives that increase efficiency, scalability, and accuracy across the Foreign CapEx function
• Serve as the primary subject matter expert for internal leadership on Foreign CapEx tax matters, including audit support and technical documentation
About the team
The Amazon Tax Department is a fast-paced, team-focused, dynamic environment. The mission of the Foreign CapEx team is to timely, accurately, and efficiently report the income tax impact of global CapEx for tax reporting and planning needs.
- • 8+ years of income taxation experience in public accounting or large multinational corporate tax departments
- • Demonstrated experience supporting or mentoring tax professionals in a team environment
- • Strong technical knowledge of foreign jurisdiction tax compliance, deferred tax accounting, and fixed asset cost recovery rules
- Background in fixed assets or intangibles, with comfort working with large data sets and complex cost recovery rules
- Excellent computer skills, specifically with managing large data sets within MS Excel or AI tools
- Experience with Data modelling tools ,or other database languages

Basic qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field, or a Bachelor's degree and experience in tax, finance or a related analytical field- • 8+ years of income taxation experience in public accounting or large multinational corporate tax departments
- • Demonstrated experience supporting or mentoring tax professionals in a team environment
- • Strong technical knowledge of foreign jurisdiction tax compliance, deferred tax accounting, and fixed asset cost recovery rules
Preferred qualifications
- Chartered Accountant, Certified Public Accountant, or Enrolled Agent certification- Background in fixed assets or intangibles, with comfort working with large data sets and complex cost recovery rules
- Excellent computer skills, specifically with managing large data sets within MS Excel or AI tools
