Creative Director, Prime Video Shopping
Amazon.com Services LLC · Culver City, United States · Design
Full-timeDirector
About the role
Prime Video Shopping is seeking an experienced Creative Director to own creative art direction for consumer products tied to Amazon MGM Studios intellectual properties, and to own product development for a portfolio of licensees. This role sits at the intersection of franchise creative direction, licensee product development, and creative operations, requiring a leader who can set the visual bar for consumer products based on iconic Amazon MGM Studios franchises, guide licensees from concept through approval, and help evolve how creative work gets done through process and tooling.
As a Creative Director, you will own the creative direction for assigned franchises’ consumer product programs — working with internal design teams to build style guides and art packs that set the creative course, then disseminating them to a broad base of licensees who use them to build products. Separately, you will own product development for an assigned base of licensee partners whose work spans many franchises, serving as their creative point of contact from concept through approval. Alongside the rest of the team, you will drive operational and tooling improvements to scale creative productivity.
A successful candidate will excel at art direction and design craft, thrive on turning early content materials into franchise creative that recruits licensees, and enjoy improving the processes that let a small team deliver more. The ideal candidate is resourceful, customer-obsessed, and able to think and act both strategically and tactically — balancing subjective and objective feedback across internal and external stakeholders while consistently raising the design bar.
Candidates should have an in-depth understanding of AI tools, Photoshop, Illustrator, PowerPoint, and Figma.
Key job responsibilities
Franchise Creative Art Direction — Own and protect the creative bar for assigned intellectual properties. Develop the comprehensive consumer products style guides and asset systems (compositions, icons, patterns, packaging, color palettes, fonts, and layouts) that set the creative direction for a franchise. Translate the earliest content materials (scripts, set photography, key art) into assets that pitch the franchise to prospective licensees, and inspire final consumer products.
Licensee Product Development — Own product development for an assigned base of licensee partners. Because partners are assigned by relationship rather than by franchise, this base spans many franchises, and you serve as their single point of contact from concept through approval. Review and approve product development (PD) submissions against style guides and brand standards, onboard new partners to the approval workflow, and lead partner presentations and kick-off meetings.
Creative Operations & Process Improvement — Work with the rest of the creative team to move from manual creative toward a more scaled operation. Provide art direction for main style guides and art packs produced in partnership with internal designers, contribute to the processes that hand routine production to the scaled team, and help develop the path to produce direct designs through AI tooling.
Stakeholder Communication — Present creative solutions and franchise direction to senior leadership and licensee partners, anticipate difficult design questions, and defend design decisions with clear rationale. Resolve conflicting feedback across internal and external stakeholders and move decisions forward.
Mentorship & Force Multiplying — Mentor and develop others on the team, document institutional knowledge, and deliver solutions that increase the effectiveness of the group, including championing the use of AI technology in creative contexts.
- Have an available online portfolio
- Experience art directing motion designers, illustrators, writers and content creators
- Knowledge of variety of design tools including Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop
- Knowledge of typographic and brand design principles
