Technical Account Manager, National Security, National Security - ES US-ADC

Amazon Web Services, Inc. · Herndon, United States · Solution Architect

Full-timeLead

About the role

As part of the AWS Applied AI Solutions organization, we have a vision to provide business applications, leveraging Amazon's unique experience and expertise, that are used by millions of companies worldwide to manage day-to-day operations. We will accomplish this by accelerating our customers' businesses through delivery of intuitive and differentiated technology solutions that solve enduring business challenges. We blend vision with curiosity and Amazon's real-world experience to build opinionated, turnkey solutions. Where customers prefer to buy over build, we become their trusted partner with solutions that are no-brainers to buy and easy to use.

Would you like to join one of the fastest-growing organizations within Amazon Web Services (AWS) and help customers of all industries and sizes gain the best value and service from AWS? At AWS Enterprise Support, we're looking for a Technical Account Manager (TAM) to support our customers' creative and transformative spirit of innovation across all technologies, including Compute, Storage, Database, Machine Learning, AI, Big Data, Security, Networking, Serverless, and more. This is not a sales role, but rather an opportunity to be the strategic technical advisor and "voice of the customer" to National Security customers.

As a TAM, you will help craft and execute strategies to drive our customers' adoption and use of AWS services, including EC2, S3, DynamoDB & RDS databases, Lambda, SageMaker, ECS/EKS, GuardDuty, Systems Manager, CodePipeline, IoT, and many more. Your technical acumen and customer-facing skills will enable you to effectively represent AWS within a customer's environment and drive discussions with senior leadership regarding incidents, trade-offs, support, and risk management.

You will provide advocacy and strategic technical guidance to help plan and build solutions using best practices, and proactively keep your customers' AWS environments operationally healthy. The close relationships developed with your customers will allow you to understand their business and operational needs and technical challenges, and help them achieve the greatest value from AWS. This position will require the ability to travel 10% or more as needed.

The TAM is the centerpiece of value to our National Security customers. If you wish to be at the forefront of innovation, come join us!

This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph

Key job responsibilities
-Serve as the principal technical advisor for National Security customers, providing proactive guidance on AWS best practices across architecture, operations, and security

-Craft and execute strategies to drive customer adoption and optimization of AWS services

-Drive discussions with senior customer leadership regarding incidents, trade-offs, risk management, and operational health

-Proactively monitor and maintain the operational health of customer AWS environments, identifying risks before they become issues

-Build deep, trusted relationships with customer technical teams and leadership to understand their business needs and deliver tailored solutions

-Advocate internally on behalf of customers, acting as the "voice of the customer" to AWS service and support teams

-Collaborate with AWS Solutions Architects, Support Engineers, and Service Teams to resolve complex technical challenges

A day in the life
On a typical day, you may start with a proactive operational review of your customers' AWS environments, identifying trends or risks that need attention. You might then lead a technical deep dive with a customer's engineering team on optimizing their architecture, followed by a strategic planning session with senior customer leadership on upcoming migration or modernization initiatives. Between customer engagements, you'll collaborate with internal AWS teams — Solutions Architects, Support Engineers, and Service Teams — to drive resolution on open issues and advocate for your customers' needs. No two days are the same: one day you may be guiding a customer through a critical event, and the next you may be presenting a Well-Architected review to help them strengthen their cloud posture.
