SDE II, Homepage & NavX

Amazon.com Services LLC · Seattle, WA · Software Development

Full-time

About the role

Amazon's mission is to be the world's most customer-centric company, and the Homepage is our storefront. It welcomes millions of customers daily and helps them start their shopping mission by bringing the most relevant parts of the store to them and helping them discover something new. Our team designs, builds, and ships one of the world's best-known websites across mobile, desktop, and tablet, always starting with the customer and working backwards. If you've ever visited an Amazon homepage and thought "this is great" or "this could be better," we're the team to talk to.

Serving customers globally and across devices puts unique demands on us: extremely high-performing pages that respect locale-specific needs while achieving scale and reusability. This is a full-stack opportunity. We build on Amazon's best services while scoping new ways to serve original content and test new interfaces, and our engineers define how we architect it all for a sustainable, performant Homepage.

Key job responsibilities
As a software development engineer, you will challenge the status quo, stay nimble, and build solutions for our most pressing opportunities. You will work with teams across the company to ship the features that live up to our mission of being the world's most customer-centric company, deep diving into systems and finding innovative approaches without being slowed by ambiguity or competing priorities.

You will turn massive amounts of data into customer value, scale our features to meet the business, and integrate our systems into the broader Amazon ecosystem alongside teams who build on our platforms. Best of all, your work will reach millions of people across the globe.

About the team
Our mission: make the Homepage the most helpful, highest-quality first impression in retail through better content quality, sharper discovery, and the systems to manage it at scale.
