Software Development Engineer, Quick Governance Platform
Amazon.com Services LLC · Remote (United States) · Software Development
Remote (United States)Full-time
About the role
Generative AI is transforming how people work, but here's the unsolved problem: how do you give an AI assistant to 100,000 employees while keeping the right guardrails in place? How do you enforce data sovereignty, audit every AI action, and ensure compliance with regulations like the EU AI Act — all without slowing down the teams building the product?
Key job responsibilities
We are looking for a Software Development Engineer II to build the policy infrastructure and enforcement systems that make enterprise AI safe at scale. You will design, implement, and operate distributed services that sit at the intersection of authorization, compliance, and AI governance — systems where correctness is non-negotiable and every decision must be explainable.
Challenges you'll tackle:
* Policy management at scale: Build the APIs and services that let administrators create, version, assign, and manage governance policies across complex organizational hierarchies with group-based assignment and inheritance
* Configuration orchestration: Design the control-plane workflows that translate admin intent into policy artifacts consumed by downstream enforcement services, ensuring consistency, auditability, and safe rollout across environments
* Admin observability and analytics: Build the telemetry and analytics pipelines that surface how AI is being used across an organization — usage dashboards, audit trails, compliance reporting, and anomaly detection that give administrators real-time visibility and actionable insights
* Cross-team collaboration: Partner closely with authorization, identity, and guardrails teams to ensure seamless end-to-end governance — from the policy an admin authors in the console to its enforcement at the point of AI interaction
