Account Manager, Transport - Aviation, Central Government
AWS EMEA SARL (Denmark Branch) · London, England, United Kingdom · Tech Sales
Full-timeLead
About the role
Are you passionate about the future of aviation and helping organisations transform how they deliver safe, efficient, and seamless air travel experiences? Do you have the business acumen and technology leadership background necessary to help establish Amazon Web Services (AWS) as a key technology platform provider across the UK's aviation sector?
This is an exciting opportunity to drive growth and shape the future of cloud-native technology adoption across some of the UK's most critical aviation infrastructure operators — from the world's busiest international airport to the organisation managing millions of flights through UK airspace annually.
You will be joining at a pivotal moment as UK aviation surpasses pre-pandemic passenger volumes, operators face intensifying regulatory and commercial pressure to modernise safety-critical systems, and the UK Government's transport infrastructure investment programme explicitly ties funding to technology adoption. Your role will be to help these organisations harness AI, IoT, and cloud-native architectures for real-time operations management, predictive maintenance, and passenger experience optimisation — where system reliability carries the highest possible safety implications.
You will possess both a customer-obsessed attitude and a strong understanding of how UK aviation organisations operate — from airport operators and air navigation service providers to regulators — and the unique challenges they face when making technology decisions in safety-critical, highly regulated environments. You will have an ability to build relationships at all levels within customer organisations, driving tangible outcomes aligned with the sector's twin imperatives of operational resilience and passenger experience transformation. You are a self-starter who wants to build a business, drive measurable customer outcomes, and make a real difference in how the UK flies.
Key job responsibilities
- Drive revenue growth and market share across the Roads, Regulation, and Regional Transport territory, encompassing National Highways, DfT, TfL, TfGM, TfWM, DVLA, and DVSA
- Develop and execute a comprehensive account development plan aligned with major government investment programmes and customer digital transformation priorities
- Build and maintain long-term strategic relationships with senior leaders across central government departments, arm's length bodies, and regional passenger transport executives
- Develop and articulate compelling value propositions around AWS services including cloud-native analytics, AI/ML, IoT, and data platform modernisation
- Identify and progress opportunities in areas such as multi-cloud displacement, digital twin, legacy migration, real-time traffic management, and regulatory digital services
- Coordinate and manage partner ecosystems to achieve partner-attached rate targets and extend market reach
- Understand the technical requirements of customers and collaborate with Solutions Architects, Specialist teams, and Professional Services to shape compelling solutions
- Facilitate engagement with key officials, policy makers, advisors, and delivery partners across the transport ecosystem
- Present business reviews to senior management regarding progress, pipeline development, and roadblocks to expanding our reach in the territory
A day in the life
As an Account Manager in the Aviation territory, no two days are the same. You might start the morning preparing for a strategic engagement with Manchester Airports Group leadership on their AI-powered Digital Colleague Workplace programme, before joining a cross-functional working session with Solutions Architects and partners to shape a proposal for NATS' next-generation air traffic management platform.
In the afternoon, you could be facilitating a workshop with Heathrow on how data analytics can optimise airport operations and passenger flow, followed by a pipeline review with your manager and specialist overlay teams. You'll regularly engage with DfT aviation policy teams to understand how airspace modernisation and sustainability targets create technology opportunities, and work with the CAA on regulatory digital service transformation.
Your internal stakeholders include Solutions Architects, Professional Services, Partner teams, and Specialist sales overlays. Your customers are senior technology and operational leaders within airports, air navigation service providers, airlines, and aviation regulatory bodies. The problems you solve span infrastructure modernisation, safety-critical systems transformation, data-driven operational efficiency, and enabling the sector's ambition to deliver safer, more sustainable, and better-connected aviation through technology.
