Amazon Web Services Infrastructure Services team provides comprehensive technical support throughout the design, planning, delivery, and operation of Amazon Web Services infrastructure. We support data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure the customers of Amazon Web Services have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations technical support managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across Amazon and our operating partners to help Amazon Web Services deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for the customers. The Global Network Delivery (GND) organization is hiring a highly motivated Network Deployment Build Lead. You will work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and collaborative environment to drive the stability and sustainability of our next-generation networks and to develop innovative ways to automate and scale our network as we expand. The desire and ability to thrive in this type of environment is essential for success.

Your responsibilities will include delivering network builds across several data center locations, project deliverables, and process improvements. You will work closely with both internal stakeholders and external vendors to facilitate smooth execution as directed by Technical Program Managers, the Network Deployment Planning team, infrastructure supply chain and procurement, and the network engineering team.

You must possess a technology background that enables you to understand the complexities of Amazon's data center network architecture. You must be highly autonomous, detail-oriented, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in managing network deployment projects. You should also be competent in networking principles, data center operations, cable infrastructure, and fiber solutions.

In addition, this role may require international travel to support other clusters' projects.

Key job responsibilities
- Implement projects according to assigned priorities
- Verify project requirements in terms of infrastructure capacity, materials, resources required and lead time
- Prepare scope of work and request for quote for bid analysis
- Manage vendor to implement cabling and hardware installation work
- Comply with change management policies and guidelines for project activities
- Build network devices and troubleshoot issues with engineers
- Assure project quality on deliverables for handoff to operations
- Update project progress, and escalate risks and blockers to stakeholders
- Adhere to safety and security standards for all tasks
- Keep updated with latest process and design changes
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives
- Support training and development in procedures and technical knowledge

Basic qualifications

- 1+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience
- 1+ years of computer networking experience
- Knowledge of fiber optic and copper cabling standards, testing equipment and troubleshooting methodologies

Preferred qualifications

- 1+ years of Linux operating systems experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- 1+ years of data center, critical environment, computer hardware repair, infrastructure cabling, network deployment, or data center operations experience, or experience with network equipment installation and configuration
- Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure, or experience in technical support
- Certification in CCNA or JNCIA or higher level, also possess understanding of major Command Line Protocols and common Networking Protocols
