Do you have the business savvy and the technical background necessary to help establish Amazon as a key technology platform provider?
Amazon Data Services India Private Limited (ADSIPL) is looking for a data center site selection specialist to drive our infrastructure strategy and investment activities supporting growth in the India region.

In this role, you will collaborate with the team to identify and evaluate potential locations and sites for self-developed data centers, and negotiate agreements while cultivating relationships with critical partners including landowners, developers, power grid and energy providers, and government officials. You will spearhead negotiations for purchase agreements, co-development agreements and leases with these essential stakeholders, while managing diverse compliance requirements, guiding site and infrastructure development strategy, and monitoring project milestones.

You will have the exciting opportunity to help promote the growth and shape the future of our business. This role will serve as a key member of the Data Center Strategy and Investment Team, and will play a critical role in driving key deliverables across multiple stakeholder organizations, working hand in hand with demand planners, engineering, public policy, legal, finance/treasury, project management, and operations.

The candidate should have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges, with the ability to build and convey compelling value propositions. The successful candidate will have the aptitude to strategically plan, make decisions, negotiate contracts, act tactically, write effectively, and display strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
She/he must be a proven problem solver, and possess the ability to influence at the CxO level and negotiate multi-million dollar contracts.

As this position involves direct contact with senior leaders, you must have a professional demeanor, strong business acumen, and be able to communicate ideas in a clear and articulate manner. This position will be based in Mumbai, but will require 10-20% business travel.

Key job responsibilities
- Serve as a key member of the Technical Business Development team in driving overall Infrastructure strategy for target regions for real estate
- Understand the supplier base (both Colocation providers and Real Estate developers), develop a strong understanding of market dynamics and activity, and develop long-term strategic partnerships in support of our key markets
- Set business development plans in-line with the larger organization strategic direction
- Negotiate and close multi-million dollar contracts to support capacity expansion
- Understand the technical requirements of our engineering teams and negotiate solutions that meet technical requirements as well as the business objectives
- Ownership of business case creation and presentation to leadership (including commercial, technical and risk profile)
- Prepare and give project reviews to the senior management team regarding progress and deal execution roadblocks
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and pivot on the fly to changing requirements
- Continue to build a culture of speed, flexibility and frugality with all business partners
- Develop and implement new mechanisms to improve our customer experience
- Business Travel: 10-20%

Basic qualifications

- Bachelor's degree, or MBA in business, data science, public administration, finance, engineering, human resources or related field
- Experience in similar environments, or experience working with and managing third party vendors
- Experience in commercial real estate or lease administration within an industrial, commercial, and/or data center environment
- Experience developing, leading, negotiating and executing corporate and/or business transactions
- 3+ years of Data Center Leasing & Colocation Law experience
- 4+ years of Go-To-Market, Business Development, Sales, or Consulting experience

Preferred qualifications

- Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
- Can work proactively and independently, meet deadlines, and deliver on projects and tasks
- 5+ years of multi-million dollar contract negotiation experience
- Knowledge of data center infrastructure design, operations, or delivery
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-tech company, or experience prioritizing and handling multiple assignments at any given time while maintaining commitment to deadlines
- Experience with analytical tools and ability to dive deep into metrics and reporting
