Technical Business Developer III

Amazon.com Services LLC - A57 · New York, NY · Business/Merchant Development

Full-time

About the role

Do you thrive on turning ambiguity into clarity? In this role, you will build and lead an enterprise risk program from the ground up — assessing, quantifying, and reducing organizational risk exposure across operations, compliance, legal, and third-party relationships. You will serve as an internal risk consultancy, driving accountability and equipping field teams with the frameworks and tools they need to manage risk independently at scale.

Key job responsibilities
• You will drive a comprehensive enterprise risk assessment program, establishing baseline risk metrics (e.g., contract warranty claw-back rates, compliance gap frequency, vendor risk scores) and maintaining a risk scoring methodology that quantifies exposure into clear business impact.
• You will build and operate an ongoing risk surveillance mechanism that provides continuous visibility into risk posture, assigns clear ownership of identified risks, and delivers regular trend analysis and escalation reporting to leadership.
• You will function as an internal audit and consultancy resource, conducting targeted audits across internal teams and third-party partners, presenting findings, and partnering with stakeholders to implement corrective actions including vendor due diligence and contract risk reviews.
• You will define and scale a standardized risk assessment approach — developing toolkits, training materials, and assessment templates — that enables field teams to conduct self-assessments independently and manage risk without centralized intervention.
• You will mentor junior analysts on risk assessment techniques and quantification methods, and develop a bar raiser program that establishes consistent standards for risk evaluation quality across the team.

A day in the life
You will partner with leaders across the organization to evaluate risk posture, deliver data-driven insights, and recommend corrective actions that protect the business. One day you may be conducting a targeted audit of vendor contract compliance; the next, you may be designing a self-assessment toolkit that enables field teams to identify and mitigate risks on their own. You will regularly brief leadership on risk trends, escalation triggers, and resolution progress — translating complex findings into clear business impact. You will also mentor analysts, shape assessment methodology, and collaborate cross-functionally to pilot new risk enablement frameworks.

About the team
This team operates at the intersection of risk management, compliance, and operational strategy. The team's vision is to create a culture where risk is visible, quantified, and owned at every level — not concentrated in a single function. You will work alongside cross-functional partners in operations, legal, finance, and third-party management to build scalable solutions that raise the bar on how the organization identifies and responds to risk.
