About the Role

The Microsoft 365 Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, optimization, and support of the Microsoft 365 platform. This role ensures the availability, performance, security, governance, and adoption of Microsoft 365 services across the enterprise.

The engineer serves as a technical expert for Microsoft 365 technologies including Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Power Platform, Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Defender, and Microsoft 365 Copilot. The role partners closely with cybersecurity, infrastructure, compliance, service management, and business stakeholders to deliver a secure and productive digital workplace experience.

What You’ll Do:

Microsoft 365 Platform Administration

  • Administer and support Microsoft 365 services including:

    • Exchange Online

    • Microsoft Teams

    • SharePoint Online

    • OneDrive for Business

    • Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)

    • Microsoft 365 Groups

    • Microsoft 365 Apps

    • Microsoft 365 Copilot

  • Manage licensing, service configurations, and tenant administration.

  • Monitor platform health, performance, and service utilization.

  • Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex technical issues.

Collaboration & Productivity Solutions

  • Design and implement collaboration solutions that improve employee productivity.

  • Configure and maintain Teams telephony, meeting, and collaboration capabilities.

  • Support SharePoint Online site architecture, document management, and information architecture.

  • Develop and maintain standards for Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive usage.

Security & Compliance

  • Implement and maintain Microsoft security and compliance controls.

  • Configure and manage:

    • Microsoft Defender

    • Conditional Access Policies

    • Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

    • Data Loss Prevention (DLP)

    • Retention and Records Management

    • Sensitivity Labels

    • Information Protection Policies

  • Partner with security and compliance teams to meet regulatory and corporate requirements.

  • Participate in security assessments, audits, and remediation activities.

Microsoft 365 Copilot & AI Enablement

  • Support deployment and adoption of Microsoft 365 Copilot.

  • Configure governance controls for AI-enabled services.

  • Assist business teams in identifying use cases and opportunities for productivity improvements.

  • Monitor licensing, adoption metrics, and user feedback.

Automation & Process Improvement

  • Develop automation solutions using:

    • PowerShell

    • Power Automate

    • Power Apps

    • Microsoft Graph

  • Streamline operational processes and reduce manual effort through automation.

  • Create and maintain scripts for administration, reporting, and maintenance tasks.

Architecture & Project Delivery

  • Participate in technology projects involving Microsoft 365 services and integrations.

  • Provide technical leadership for migrations, upgrades, and platform enhancements.

  • Evaluate new Microsoft features and recommend adoption strategies.

  • Produce design documentation, implementation plans, and operational procedures.

Operational Support

  • Serve as a Tier 3 escalation resource for Microsoft 365-related incidents and problems.

  • Participate in on-call support and major incident management processes as required.

  • Maintain service documentation, knowledge articles, and technical standards.

  • Support change management and release management activities.

Who You Are:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience administering Microsoft 365 environments.

  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale Microsoft 365 tenants.

  • Experience implementing security and compliance controls within Microsoft 365.

  • Experience with hybrid identity and authentication technologies.

  • Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.

  • ITIL Foundation Certification

  • Experience with Azure services and cloud infrastructure.

  • Experience supporting global enterprises and multinational organizations.

Preferred Certifications

  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert

  • Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Fundamentals

  • Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals

  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)

  • SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM)

  • ITIL Foundation or ITIL Managing Professional

DISCLAIMER:

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is:

$104,400.00-$149,100.00

This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for.  The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
