Sr. Software Development Engineer, Agentic WorkSpaces Client
Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. · Remote (United States) · Software Development
About the role
The mission of Agentic WorkSpaces is to enable AI agents to work the way people do. Across the industry, agents are becoming digital workers. Like every team member, they need identity, permissions, governance, and a trusted place to do their work. The Agentic WorkSpaces Client team builds the front door to that place: the client software people use to securely access and operate the desktop and web applications their businesses rely on, and the software AI agents will use to do the same.
We build the client software that runs on customer endpoints across major operating systems and browsers, and we own critical parts of the connection and user experience for Amazon WorkSpaces, a highly scaled system that delivers remote desktops and streamed applications to millions of end users every day. We are evolving that same client experience to carry agentic workloads, which require secure access, enterprise permissions, governance, observability, and human oversight. We are looking for a Software Development Engineer to design, build, and operate customer-facing capabilities across native and web clients, advancing the client that enterprise agents will work through while supporting a system that millions of people depend on today. Industry consensus points to a growing share of cloud desktop workloads becoming agentic in the coming years. We build the client software those desktops are reached through, which is exactly why the Agentic WorkSpaces Client team can lead that shift. Today, most of the team's work is building and running the clients our users rely on; the agentic share of the roadmap grows from there. Your work includes secure session connectivity, client lifecycle, cross-platform architecture, user experience, performance, software updates, operational telemetry, and integrations supporting human and agentic workflows. You will own features from design through production, collaborate with teams across AWS, solve complex issues in customer-managed environments, and maintain a high bar for security, reliability, and operational excellence.
Agentic WorkSpaces offers a combination most roles don't: the early build-out of agent infrastructure on the scale of a mature AWS service. You will not be starting from a blank page, and you will not be maintaining a system in stasis. You will shape the evolution of Amazon WorkSpaces by extending a proven system rather than rewriting it. The problems span operating systems, web technologies, networking, security, and distributed services, and your work will directly influence how people and AI agents securely interact with enterprise applications. We are passionate about our customers and love to solve their most critical problems. If you enjoy hard problems that span the client and the cloud, and want to work with a talented, inclusive team that prides itself on a great work environment, join us.
