About the role

Amazon MGM Studios is seeking an experienced Unscripted/Alternative executive to lead the creative management and development efforts for MGM Alternative. This role oversees the creative direction and day-to-day management of MGM Alt's current series slate and format catalogue while also driving new and collaborative development initiatives in partnership with the broader Amazon MGM Studios team. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in format development, talent relations, and creative leadership, with a proven ability to manage high-profile current series while simultaneously managing a development pipeline. Must have strong relationships across the industry — including with networks, streamers, producers, directors, and talent representatives — and the ability to collaborate at a high level with internal and external stakeholders. Must have leadership experience managing creative teams and the ability to think strategically across the business.

Key job responsibilities
Current Series Management: Oversee the creative direction and production of MGM Alternative's current series slate, ensuring each show maintains the highest creative standards and delivers on the expectations of our network partners.

Format Development: Lead the development of new and innovative formats, with the ability to work across many genres. Ability to work closely with creators, showrunners, and production partners.

Collaborative Development: Partner with studio executives and third-party producers to shape new formats and series.

Talent & Industry Relations: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with top-tier talent, creators, producers, directors, production companies, artist representatives, and executives at networks and streamers outside of Amazon.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: When needed liaise with Marketing, Publicity, Research, Digital, Social, Business & Legal Affairs, and the Prime Video Programming team to support the success of each project.

Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a creative team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.

- Deep expertise in format development — understands what makes formats work, how to evolve them, and how to create new ones that resonate with audiences.
- Proven ability to manage high-level relationships with talent, creators, and industry executives with diplomacy and professionalism.
- Strong collaborative instincts — thrives working alongside producers, directors, fellow executives, and cross-functional partners.
- Understands the nuts and bolts of unscripted/alternative production and can engage meaningfully in all phases from development through final delivery.

Basic qualifications

- Experience communicating clearly and concisely with leadership, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams
- 10+ years as a creative executive at a proven production company, studio, network, or streamer, with significant experience in both development and current programming in unscripted/alternative television.
- Demonstrated expertise in format development — creating, adapting, or evolving successful formats.
- Strong talent relations skills with a proven track record of building and maintaining high-level industry relationships.
- Established relationships with networks and streamers outside of Amazon.
- Broad network of producers, directors, creators, and artists across the unscripted/alternative landscape.
- Strong writing and excellent communication skills

Preferred qualifications

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Producing experience

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
