About the role
The Alexa for Shopping design team is seeking a Sr UX Design Program Manager to help us scale invention for Amazon’s personalised, agentic AI assistant. Our new experience brings together the best of Rufus and Alexa+ to deliver a more personal, helpful shopping experience across a wide range of surfaces and devices—from the Amazon Shopping app and website to Echo Show, where customers can now browse and shop the full Amazon store using voice, touch, or both.
You will collaborate closely with a cross functional group of designers, researchers, writers, engineers, scientists, and product managers throughout the planning, design, and development cycle. Your emphasis will be on the planning and prioritisation of key UX deliverables, with an eye to mitigating project risks and clearing blockers. You will work alongside design leadership to deliver a best-in-class conversational shopping experience to our hundreds of millions of customers. As you ramp up, you will take more ownership over driving the programme and representing the design function in key forums. We have a bold vision to create the world’s best AI Shopping Assistant, and this role will be a critical partner in delivering on that.
Key job responsibilities
- Own programme strategy for end-to-end delivery
- Act as a bridge between UX, Engineering, and Product, connecting all three groups and making sure interdependencies are understood and planned for
- Establish and drive cross-organisational collaboration mechanisms with partner teams
- Apply project management best practices to make the team you work with more efficient
- Gather and bring clarity to project requirements
- Put structure in place to facilitate debates and decision-making
- Partner with UX leadership to prioritise team resources and make key programme decisions
- Identify roadblocks and drive the resolution of problems with appropriate autonomy
- Own design team communications, keeping both internal and partner teams informed and aligned on UX priorities and risks
- Consistently impart clear and concise summaries for team projects to leadership and answer questions in detail
A day in the life
You empower the UX team to own their timelines and deliverables, and support them by clarifying requirements, clearing blockers, and mitigating risk to ensure milestones are met. You are an effective, concise, and clear communicator, with a proven track record of effective meeting management. You drive improvements to communication mechanisms, tools, and standards to facilitate optimal output. You collaborate with cross-functional partners to understand business requirements and technical constraints, and embody the voice of the customer to help support the UX team. You are an equal owner, and often represent the design team’s strategy and POV in key forums such as partner team meetings, office hours or leadership reviews.
- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
- Experience in written and verbal communication skills to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership

Basic qualifications
- Have an available online portfolio- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
- Experience in written and verbal communication skills to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership
Preferred qualifications
