Software Development Engineer II, Amazon Now (Tez)
ADCI - Karnataka · Bengaluru, India · Software Development
Full-time
About the role
Amazon Now (Quick Commerce) — is one of Amazon's largest and fastest-growing businesses, operating across 8+ marketplaces (India, MENA, North America, EU, UK, Japan) and powering adjacent businesses like India Fresh and Healthcare. The platform handles >0.7MM orders/day, scaling to 2MM by year-end.
As an SDE2 on the Tez CX PIXEL team, you would work at the heart of Amazon Now's quick commerce platform. IXEL owns the end-to-end in-store shopping experience, from homepage and browse surfaces through personalization, live cart, single cart and checkout, deals and value surfacing, AI-driven merchandising, and geospatial CX.
The systems are Tier 1, serving 2,000+ TPS as the canonical worldwide platforms for shopping, ordering, and savings. The role directly impacts conversion, basket size, and checkout completion — the metrics that turn platform growth into revenue. The defining product shift ahead is the adaptive, agentic store — moving from a fixed storefront to one that intelligently composes itself around each customer's habits, context, and intent, making this a compelling charter for an SDE2 looking to drive high-impact, customer-facing systems at scale.
Key job responsibilities
- You solve difficult problems, applying appropriate technologies and best practices.
- You work with your team to invent, design and build software that is stable and performant.
- You are proficient in a broad range of design approaches and know when it is appropriate to use them (and when it is not). Your solutions are pragmatic.
- You consider the legacy of the code you produce and write code that an SDE unfamiliar with the system can understand.
- You limit the use of short-term workarounds. You do things with the proper level of complexity the first time (or at least minimize incidental complexity).
- You create flexible software without over-engineering. You make appropriate trade-offs, re-use where possible, and are judicious about introducing dependencies.
- You are efficient with resource usage (e.g., system hardware, database, memory/CPU, etc.)
- You work on project ideas with customers, stakeholders, and peers
