About the role
The Lab Engineer will be responsible for the hands-on maintenance, operation, and continuous improvement of test infrastructure that supports Amazon Prime Air's drone development and production programs.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can troubleshoot complex electro-mechanical systems, manage lab organization and safety compliance, and collaborate across hardware, software, and production teams to keep test infrastructure running at high availability.
Key job responsibilities
The Lab Engineer maintains and troubleshoots electromechanical test infrastructure ensuring high availability for engineering and production teams. Responsibilities include performing preventive maintenance, building and wiring new test rigs, and resolving hardware issues as first-line technical support. The role also supports lab infrastructure (network cabling, power distribution, rack organization), coordinates procurement of equipment and consumables, and maintains documentation such as SOPs and wiring diagrams. The engineer drives continuous improvement in test system reliability and lab operational efficiency.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, material science, physics or equivalent
- Experience with hardware/software integration and real-time systems
- Experience in troubleshooting installation, fault finding, and repairs
- Experience with test plan development, building the necessary test bench infrastructure, developing tests and verifying the design

Basic qualifications
- 2+ years of hardware design and validation of components, subsystems and systems experience- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, material science, physics or equivalent
Preferred qualifications
- Knowledge of SolidWorks or similar CAD experience and understanding of best practices for part design, and advanced assemblies- Experience with hardware/software integration and real-time systems
- Experience in troubleshooting installation, fault finding, and repairs
- Experience with test plan development, building the necessary test bench infrastructure, developing tests and verifying the design

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
