Job Description:

Cadence Technologies, a subsidiary of Barry-Wehmiller Design Group, is a national distributor of industry-leading sanitary process equipment and components from manufacturers such as SPX, Waukesha, and APV. We support leading food, beverage, and pharmaceutical manufacturers with equipment, parts, and field service solutions designed to keep critical production systems operating reliably.

We are seeking a Field Services Business Developer to drive the growth of Cadence's service business across the United States. This role is responsible for identifying new service opportunities, developing customer relationships, and expanding service revenue within food, beverage, and pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities.

The ideal candidate has a proven track record in technical sales and understands how maintenance, reliability, and operational performance impact manufacturing environments. This individual will work directly with plant leadership, maintenance teams, engineers, and operations personnel to identify needs and connect customers with Cadence's service capabilities.

Responsibilities:

Business Development

  • Grow Cadence's field service business by identifying and developing new customer opportunities within food, beverage, and pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities.
  • Build relationships with maintenance managers, maintenance technicians, plant managers, and other key decision makers.
  • Partner with Design Group leaders and Process Design engineers across the firm to identify service opportunities aligned with Cadence's established service offerings.
  • Conduct Lunch & Learn presentations to educate Design Group professionals on Cadence services.
  • Work alongside engineers supporting process improvement projects to identify associated service and equipment opportunities.
  • Provide weekly updates to the Director of Cadence Technologies regarding lead activity, sales opportunities, and business development efforts.
  • Track customer engagement and sales activities within CRM and actively follow up on opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Service Project Manager to identify potential new service offerings that complement existing capabilities.

Marketing

  • Partner with the Service Project Manager and Design Group marketing team to support the development of marketing materials promoting Cadence services.

Technical Knowledge

  • Maintain a strong understanding of Cadence service offerings and field service capabilities.
  • Recommend appropriate service solutions based on customer needs, equipment requirements, and operational objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 5-10 years of technical sales experience in maintenance services, service plans, sanitary distributors, food and beverage manufacturing equipment, and/or mechanical equipment (electrical technical sales-only experience will not apply).
  • Documented, measurable sales performance, including consistent attainment or exceeding of quota, high-volume sales activity, and a strong record of closing new business.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and maintenance requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and occasionally automation systems.
  • Awareness of sanitation requirements and food safety standards.
  • Ability to build relationships with maintenance managers, maintenance technicians, and plant managers.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical solutions to varied audiences.
  • Strategic, consultative selling skills to identify customer needs and recommend solutions.
  • Technical aptitude to provide product training and support.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills to effectively manage a large territory.
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree.

Travel

  • Estimated travel of up to 80% nationally to customer facilities as needed.

Location

  • Must be based in the United States.
