How much hiring is actually remote?
More than half of visible hiring is remote: 42,542 of 76,255 postings, or 55.8%, are remote, while just 5.4% are hybrid and 4.4% are on-site.
More than half of visible hiring is remote. We looked at 76,255 postings, and 42,542 are remote, which is 55.8% of the corpus.
The short answer
Remote hiring is not a niche here. It is the majority category, and it is far larger than the combined hybrid and on-site share.
Hybrid accounts for 4,152 postings, or 5.4%. On-site accounts for 3,362 postings, or 4.4%. Together, those two modes make up 10.0% of visible postings.
That leaves a large middle of postings that are neither remote nor explicitly office-based in the data we can measure. If you are planning a search, the first thing to know is that remote is common enough to be the default assumption in this set.
What the remote share means
The most useful comparison is not remote versus one alternative, but remote versus everything else.
| Work mode | Postings | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Remote | 42,542 | 55.8% |
| Hybrid | 4,152 | 5.4% |
| On-site | 3,362 | 4.4% |
Remote is more than ten times as common as hybrid, and more than twelve times as common as on-site.
That gap matters because people often assume remote roles are the exception. In this dataset, they are the majority.
Salary is still missing in most adverts
Remote work is common, but pay transparency is not.
| Salary field | Postings | Share |
|---|---|---|
| State a salary | 30,065 | 39.4% |
| Do not state a salary | 46,190 | 60.6% |
That silence is a major part of the picture. Most postings do not state pay, even though remote hiring is widespread.
If you are choosing between remote options, the practical move is to filter for posts that state salary first. You will avoid spending time on the larger group that does not give you that information up front.
Remote hiring by seniority
Salary disclosure changes with seniority, which is useful if you are narrowing a remote search by level.
| Seniority | Postings | With salary | Share |
|---|---|---|---|
| Senior | 23,682 | 9,933 | 41.9% |
| Not stated | 17,732 | 4,857 | 27.4% |
| Lead | 11,891 | 4,092 | 34.4% |
| Mid-level | 9,398 | 4,417 | 47.0% |
| Junior | 5,743 | 2,576 | 44.9% |
| Director | 3,988 | 2,242 | 56.2% |
| Staff | 1,580 | 1,091 | 69.1% |
| Principal | 1,072 | 394 | 36.8% |
| Intern | 561 | 168 | 29.9% |
| VP | 401 | 238 | 59.4% |
| C-level | 207 | 57 | 27.5% |
Staff and VP roles are the most likely to state pay here. Intern and C-level roles are among the least likely.
For a remote search, that means level is not just about responsibility. It also changes how much information you can expect to see before you apply.
Remote hiring by country
The remote share is not evenly spread across countries, and salary disclosure is not either.
| Country | Postings | With salary | Share |
|---|---|---|---|
| US | 38,942 | 20,935 | 53.8% |
| GB | 5,438 | 1,851 | 34.0% |
| not stated | 4,290 | 1,603 | 37.4% |
| IN | 3,939 | 208 | 5.3% |
| CA | 3,007 | 1,771 | 58.9% |
| DE | 1,793 | 354 | 19.7% |
| BR | 1,442 | 127 | 8.8% |
| MX | 1,260 | 158 | 12.5% |
| JP | 1,075 | 48 | 4.5% |
| PH | 1,072 | 341 | 31.8% |
| AU | 984 | 136 | 13.8% |
| ES | 968 | 200 | 20.7% |
The US dominates the visible set by volume, and Canada has the highest salary share among the listed countries. India and Japan have especially low salary disclosure.
That means a remote search is not one market. It is several markets with very different levels of pay transparency.
Sponsorship is usually unstated
Work authorisation and visa support are mostly left unsaid.
| Sponsorship field | Postings | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Say nothing about sponsorship | 73,323 | 96.2% |
| Say they will not sponsor | 2,157 | 2.8% |
| Offer visa sponsorship | 775 | 1.0% |
This is another silence worth paying attention to. The overwhelming majority of postings do not tell you anything about sponsorship.
If sponsorship matters to you, do not assume silence means yes. A remote role can still be inaccessible for reasons that are never stated.
Sponsorship by country
| Country | Offer sponsorship | Refuse sponsorship | Say nothing |
|---|---|---|---|
| US | 572 | 1,410 | 36,960 |
| GB | 99 | 32 | 5,307 |
| not stated | 2 | 505 | 3,783 |
| IN | 4 | 8 | 3,927 |
| CA | 7 | 59 | 2,941 |
| DE | 10 | 1 | 1,782 |
| BR | 0 | 29 | 1,413 |
| MX | 0 | 39 | 1,221 |
| JP | 17 | 3 | 1,055 |
| PH | 0 | 2 | 1,070 |
| AU | 11 | 9 | 964 |
| ES | 2 | 9 | 957 |
The pattern here is clear: sponsorship is rare, and silence is the norm in every country listed.
What remote jobs ask for
The common skills suggest what kinds of remote work are most visible in the market.
| Skill | Postings | Share |
|---|---|---|
| AWS | 13,056 | 17.1% |
| Python | 11,206 | 14.7% |
| SQL | 8,213 | 10.8% |
| Salesforce | 7,850 | 10.3% |
| Agile | 5,466 | 7.2% |
| LLM | 5,330 | 7.0% |
| Java | 5,026 | 6.6% |
| Azure | 4,995 | 6.6% |
| CI/CD | 4,965 | 6.5% |
| Google Cloud | 4,718 | 6.2% |
| Kubernetes | 4,073 | 5.3% |
| C++ | 3,882 | 5.1% |
These are mostly technical roles and platform-heavy roles. Remote hiring is broad, but the skill mix is not random.
If you are aiming at remote work, the best signal in this set is not a generic “work from anywhere” idea. It is alignment with the skills employers keep asking for.
Which employers dominate remote hiring
A small group of employers contributes a large share of the visible postings.
| Employer | Postings | With salary | Share |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon.com Services LLC | 4,778 | 25 | 0.5% |
| NVIDIA | 2,535 | 1,421 | 56.1% |
| Salesforce | 2,062 | 799 | 38.7% |
| Amazon Web Services, Inc. | 1,333 | 5 | 0.4% |
| Amazon Data Services, Inc. | 1,322 | 5 | 0.4% |
| mercor | 1,187 | 1,182 | 99.6% |
| Pavago | 1,023 | 23 | 2.2% |
| Databricks | 1,008 | 537 | 53.3% |
| Stripe | 898 | 39 | 4.3% |
| Adobe | 860 | 582 | 67.7% |
| Gopuff | 801 | 669 | 83.5% |
| Anthropic | 709 | 627 | 88.4% |
The employer mix shows two things at once. Large employers supply volume, and some employers are far more transparent about pay than others.
That is useful if you are job hunting remotely: the best targets are not only the employers with the most openings, but the ones that also give you enough information to compare options quickly.
Employment types in the market
Most visible hiring is full time, but there is a meaningful amount of contract work too.
| Employment type | Postings |
|---|---|
| FULL_TIME | 58,031 |
| UNKNOWN | 11,137 |
| CONTRACT | 4,153 |
| PART_TIME | 1,859 |
| INTERNSHIP | 597 |
| TEMPORARY | 248 |
| OTHER | 214 |
| FREELANCE | 16 |
If you are looking for remote work specifically, this tells you the market is still anchored in full-time roles, with contract work a secondary slice.
What to do next
If you are searching for remote roles, start by filtering for remote and salary together. That cuts through the largest source of uncertainty in the dataset.
Then check sponsorship and work-authorisation fields before you apply, because those are almost always silent. A remote posting can still be a poor fit if those details are missing.
