About the role

Japan Executive Engagement and Communications Leader (use the same title in the body)
AWS Global Sales (AGS) drives adoption of the AWS cloud worldwide, enabling customers of all sizes to innovate and expand in the cloud. We dive deep to understand each customer's challenges, then build solutions that accelerate their success. This customer-first approach is how we built the world's most adopted cloud. Join us and help us grow. The Japan Executive Engagement and Communications Leader owns how AWS senior leaders engage Japan's largest customers, and how the Japan AGS strategy is communicated to customers, employees, and Amazon leadership. You will sit in the VP office for Japan AGS and report to Japan Managing Director. You own three outcomes:

Key job responsibilities
Executive engagement. You design and run the engagement model between AWS senior executives and Japan's priority accounts. You decide which relationships matter, sequence the meetings that move them, and raise the quality of every briefing document, agenda, and follow-up. You hold the line on preparation standards so that executive time converts into customer decisions.

Executive communications. You write and edit for the Japan AGS leadership team: business narratives, customer-facing keynotes and talking points, organizational announcements, and the documents that carry Japan's position into worldwide forums. You turn a complex, data-heavy business into narratives a customer CEO or an Amazon SVP can act on in one read.

Engagement performance. You build the mechanisms that show whether engagement is working, including coverage of priority relationships, meeting quality, commitments made, and commitments closed. You use that data to redirect executive time.
You will handle confidential customer and organizational information daily and are expected to exercise judgment on what is shared, with whom, and when.

A day in the life
You start by reviewing the briefing document for a customer CEO meeting later that week and send it back with sharper commercial framing and three questions the AWS executive should ask. You join the Japan leadership weekly business review and pick up an action to shape the Japan narrative for an upcoming worldwide review. You meet an account team to plan an Executive Briefing Center (EBC) session for a manufacturing customer. You close the day editing an organizational announcement for the VP and updating the engagement dashboard ahead of the monthly review.

About the team
The Japan Executive Engagement function is the custodian of the business strategy dialogue for Japan AGS and steward of growth acceleration and innovation projects within the VP office. The team works backwards from market forces to build Japan's vision and business strategy, informs the go-to-market plan, nurtures customer innovation through the Innovation Hub, and supports experiments that capture growth.
