Senior Technical Program Manager, WW Amazon Stores Finance (ASF) Technology
Amazon.com Services LLC · Washington, DC · Technical Program Management
Full-timeSenior
About the role
The WW Amazon Stores Finance (ASF) Technology team is looking for a customer-focused, analytically and technically skilled Sr. Technical Program Manager to own and drive program solutions for the Stores Finance organization. This role requires an AI-native mindset — leveraging Generative AI tools and automation as a core part of how you plan, execute, communicate, and deliver.
This team operates in a fast-paced environment where we “Work Hard, Have Fun, Make History.” On a typical day, you will engage with multiple customers, define and prioritize the roadmap, deep dive to root cause a customer issue, release the latest new feature, define and report business metrics, explore GenAI-powered automation opportunities, and discuss radical new approaches to building and operating at scale.
As a Sr. TPM at Amazon, you will own the lifecycle of cross-functional programs that have considerable business and technology impact. You will define program strategy, align stakeholders, and deliver outcomes that matter to customers. This role puts you at the intersection of engineering and business, where your technical depth, analytical rigor, and communication skills will shape how we build and deliver at scale. If you are a self-starter who enjoys working across organizational boundaries to turn big ideas into reality, we want to hear from you.
Key job responsibilities
- Own the lifecycle of large, complex cross-functional technology programs from concept through delivery, navigating ambiguity independently to drive clarity on requirements, strategy, and technical solutions
- Build strategic roadmaps by driving consensus among Tech and Finance partners; be a catalyst in prioritization and fast-track decision making that influences the direction of multiple engineering teams
- Work with VP orgs to influence system owners, architecture decisions, and organizational priorities; advise Sr. Managers and Directors on program strategy and trade-offs
- Champion the adoption of Generative AI tools and agentic automation across program management workflows; driving measurable productivity gains and establishing best practices for AI-assisted planning, execution, and reporting
- Manage program-level schedules and milestones; assess risks, define success metrics, resolve bottlenecks, and balance competing priorities across teams by leading through influence without direct authority
- Own program communication - Accelerate progress by driving crisp decisions, clearing blockers, escalating appropriately, and presenting effectively to senior leadership
- Drive simplification and efficiency in engineering systems and architectures; establish mechanisms that promote agility and engineering excellence through continuous iteration
- Develop, improve, and share operational best practices; streamline process to create predictable, repeatable delivery paths that amplify team effectiveness
- Champion strategic documents (MTR, MBR/QBR, design docs, PR/FAQ, OP1/OP2) synthesizing complex problems into simple, consumable narratives for cross-functional audiences
A day in the life
You start your morning reviewing program metrics and dashboards to identify emerging risks or blockers. Mid-morning, you facilitate a cross-team alignment meeting where engineering leads debate technical trade-offs — your role is to drive the discussion toward a crisp decision. After lunch, you draft a program update narrative for senior leadership, distilling complex technical progress into clear business outcomes. Later, you connect with a partner team to negotiate a dependency timeline and unblock a critical deliverable. Throughout it all, you balance strategic thinking with hands-on problem-solving.
