Data Center Senior HRP, AWS Builder Experience Team

Amazon Web Services Australia Pty Ltd · Melbourne, VIC, Australia · Human Resources

Melbourne, VIC, AustraliaFull-timeSenior

About the role

Join Amazon's Builder Experience Team (BeXT) as a Senior Data Center HR Partner and make every day better for the Builders who power AWS. This is a 100% on-site role where you'll serve as the strategic HR partner to cluster operations leadership across multiple clusters. You'll operate with significant autonomy — applying senior judgment in precedent-setting situations, designing scalable mechanisms, and coaching site leadership teams through the most complex people challenges in a rapidly growing business.

This is a 100% Onsite role and requires the ability to travel to assigned Data Center sites within an operational cluster (estimated 25% travel).
• Data Center environments are 24/7 operational facilities; flexibility to support off-shift populations and respond to time-sensitive people matters is expected.
• This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports; leadership is demonstrated through influence, mentorship, and cross-functional partnership.

Key job responsibilities
Builder Advocacy: Maintain consistent onsite presence across multiple clusters through site walks and Gemba walks. Lead listening strategies based on risk patterns, foster an inclusive environment, and manage employee representative board relationships.

Strategic Partnership: Act as the primary HR partner to cluster operations leadership. Connect sentiment, workforce data, and operational signals to drive proactive people strategies. Coordinate cross-cluster communications and present at leadership forums.

HR Expertise: Lead high-complexity employee relations matters, workplace investigations, and precedent-setting cases. Resolve systemic pay, transfer, and hiring defects with central teams. Build SOPs for cross-cluster adoption.

Leadership Development: Design scalable manager capability programs and coach leaders on empathetic, sound decision-making. Identify development gaps through data and observation. Support site and technical manager hiring.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with HRBPs, COEs, ER, and LR to deliver integrated people strategies. Support onboarding and new site launches. Mentor HRPs and thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.

A day in the life
You'll conduct site walks across clusters with Operations, Safety, and Deployment leadership — staying close to what's happening on the ground while maintaining the altitude to spot patterns across sites. You'll analyze sentiment data and roundtable feedback to detect systemic risk, then partner with cluster leadership to translate those patterns into action. You'll coach site leaders through complex, high-stakes people decisions, lead workplace investigations, and design mechanisms and SOPs that drive consistency across your portfolio. You'll mentor HRPs, coordinate with cross-functional partners on integrated people strategies, and manage employee representative board relationships independently.
