About the role

Role Purpose

The Graphic Designer is responsible for producing high-quality visual assets that bring QBD’s

brand, promotions and campaigns to life across digital, in-store and educational environments.

This role supports all creative needs for marketing, store teams and the Education department,

ensuring every visual touchpoint reflects a cohesive and elevated QBD brand. The Graphic

Designer delivers work for national campaigns, website content, EDMs, point-of-sale displays,

store signage, education initiatives and broader business requirements, helping strengthen the

customer experience across all channels.

Key Responsibilities

Brand & Creative Development

  • Develop visually compelling assets that uphold QBD’s brand identity.
  • Maintain consistency across colour, typography, layout and brand guidelines.
  • Contribute to the ongoing evolution and refinement of QBD’s visual identity.

Marketing & Promotional Design

  • Design creative assets for digital marketing including EDMs, promotional banners, social

tiles and online advertising.

  • Produce print-ready materials such as posters, brochures, table talkers, shelf talkers and

in-store displays.

  • Create campaign kits to support national promotions and brand-led storytelling.

Store Design Support

  • Design signage, navigation materials, seasonal display assets and specialised in-store

visuals for QBD’s 91+ stores.

  • Support store teams with design requests such as wayfinding, display toppers, fixture

concepts and local event collateral.

  • Ensure in-store creative execution aligns with national branding and promotional

priorities.

Website & Digital Content

  • Design homepage banners, promotional tiles, category graphics and book feature

imagery for the company website

  • Create digital elements that enhance usability and overall customer experience.
  • Ensure accuracy and alignment with promotional timelines and campaigns.

Education Department Creative

  • Produce creative assets for the Education department, including flyers, school event

materials, reading program visuals, book fair banners, and curriculum-aligned content.

  • Support education-led initiatives with polished, age-appropriate, brand-aligned creative.

Cross-Functional Creative Support

  • Support the Brand Manager with press kits, influencer mailers, event signage and media

assets.

  • Develop presentation visuals, templates and branded documents for internal and

external use.

  • Collaborate with publishers to source and format author imagery and book visuals for

marketing use.

Production & Workflow Management

  • Manage asset libraries, design systems, naming conventions and file organisation.
  • Prepare artwork for print, liaising with printers to ensure production accuracy.
  • Deliver creative outputs within agreed deadlines and follow approval processes.
  • The ability to work remotely and communicate confidently on digital channels with a team.
  • Delivery of work is at a fast pace and executed aligned with a brief or with some creative license
  • The ability to work through some ambiguity and to ask questions when needed

Skills, Experience, & Attributes

  • Proven experience as a graphic designer in retail, publishing, media, agency or similar

creative environments.

  • High-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Experience producing both digital and print creative assets.
  • Strong eye for detail, layout, composition and brand consistency.
  • Ability to interpret briefs and convert ideas into effective visual solutions.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Collaborative mindset and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • A passion for books, learning, creativity and visual storytelling.
