Do you have the business savvy, public sector experience, and technical background necessary to help establish as a key technology platform provider? Are you passionate about serving the public sector in Defence and National Security?

The Canada Public Sector (CANPS) team is looking for an accomplished Principal Account Manager to drive growth strategies for National Security and Defence (NSD). As NSD Principal, you will have the exciting opportunity to help drive the growth and shape the future of this customer segment.

You will work closely with sales leadership and the extended NSD team to build go-to-market strategies focusing on delivering long-term revenue, adoption, and market penetration. You will work with several stakeholder teams supporting Canada Sales, including the partners, solutions, policy, security, compliance, marketing, and professional services to position AWS as the cloud service provider of choice for mission-based workloads, while using internal mechanisms to ensure success.

Key job responsibilities
The ideal candidate will possess a business development/sales background with extensive national security and defence experience.

Key job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Engages with the broader NSD sales team, and multiple stakeholders to define and execute sales plans and Think Big initiatives with scale.
• Contributes to the development of pipeline and work products that maximize revenue, with the ability to execute both short-term and long-term goals.
• Collaborates with C-Suite and Government of Canada leadership to align national security and defence priorities with modern cloud strategies.
• Works with AWS business leaders and product teams to identify trends/opportunities, utilizes extensive relationships within industry to gather market intelligence to deliver emerging technologies.
• Syncs often with global AWS teams to share information and drive alignment across Five Eyes and relevant NATO countries.
• Manages internal communications and overall performance reporting.
• Develops and executes on segment specific sales & marketing efforts with strategic partners (ISV, SI & Defence contractors).
• Travel: 25% of the time (approx.)

Basic qualifications

- 10+ years of technology related sales, business development or equivalent experience
- 5+ years NSD customer experience
- Experience working with emerging technologies, proficient in developing a tangible plan of action to achieve a bold vision.
- Government of Canada clearance preferred. Must have the ability to hold/acquire a Secret/Top Secret clearance.

- Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences, including executive level stakeholders or clients
- Excellent presentation, sales, and negotiation skills; ability to close and/or support high value and high-profile opportunities
- Strong problem-solving skills; ability to analyze issues and create appropriate tactical plans
- Meticulous attention to detail: ability to juggle many tasks in parallel
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, innovative, and rapidly evolving industry and business organization
- Demonstrated ability to champion and drive cross-functionally improvement initiatives
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationship management skills

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments, restricted stock units (RSUs), and sales incentives (where applicable). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, basic life & AD&D insurance), Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), paid time off, and other resources to improve health and well-being.
