Team Summary

At SQUAD, we build hardware and software systems for IoT devices. We are currently forming a new engineering team to develop a new product from the ground up. We are looking for a C++ Engineer with a strong Linux background to join our R&D team. In this role, you will work on the core software components, shape the product architecture alongside hardware and QA engineers, and help turn early concepts into a reliable, production-ready product.

Job Summary

As a C++ Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining software features for our new Linux-based product. You will write high-performance C++ code, integrate services, debug system-level issues, and ensure overall software stability.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Design and implement new software features in C++ for Linux-based devices.
  • Own features through the full cycle: from initial design and coding to debugging and deployment.
  • Write clean, maintainable code, unit tests, and technical documentation.
  • Debug and profile system issues, fixing performance bottlenecks and stability bugs.
  • Collaborate daily with hardware, firmware, QA, and project management teams.
  • Participate in code reviews and team planning sessions.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 4+ years of commercial software development experience in C++ (good knowledge of Modern C++ standards, OOP, and multithreading).
  • Solid practical experience with Linux development and debugging tools
  • Experience with build systems, version control, and CI/CD tools (CMake, Git).
  • Hands-on experience writing unit tests and performing code optimization.
  • Practical problem-solving skills and the ability to work with complex technical requirements.
  • At least an Intermediate level in both written and spoken English (B1).

Nice to have

  • Experience with Embedded Linux tools (Yocto or Buildroot).
  • Familiarity with IPC mechanisms (D-Bus, gRPC) or network protocols (MQTT, TCP/UDP).
  • Experience with video/audio streaming or data processing.
  • Exposure to development boards (Raspberry Pi, NVIDIA Jetson, etc.).
  • Experience or interest in using AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code).
