Senior Financial Analyst, AWS Commercial Sales Finance
Amazon Web Services Singapore Private Limited · Singapore · Finance/Planning
Full-timeSenior
About the role
Are you ready to become a trusted finance partner for one of the fastest-growing cloud businesses in the world? Amazon Web Services Finance is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to take ownership of cost-side financial operations for AWS Global Services across the Asia Pacific and Japan China (APJC) region. This is not your typical financial planning and analysis role—you'll be the single-threaded owner translating complex cost data across multiple countries and cultures into actionable business insights that directly influence operational decisions made by regional business leaders.
In this high-visibility role, you'll own end-to-end cost of sales analysis, variance commentary, and forecasting for the region, with direct exposure to regional profit and loss management and strategic planning cycles. You'll work at the intersection of finance and business strategy, building financial models that drive headcount and operational spend decisions while progressively taking on more strategic advisory responsibilities with senior leaders across APJC.
Key job responsibilities
- Analyze cost of sales variances and prepare commentary for monthly and weekly business reviews, translating financial data into clear insights that influence decision-making at the APJC leadership level
- Build and maintain scalable financial models and forecasts for AWS Global Services APJC cost management, leveraging SQL to extract and validate data from Redshift and other financial systems
- Partner directly with area finance teams and business leaders across multiple countries on headcount planning, operational spend decisions, and cost optimization initiatives
- Proactively audit reporting accuracy by diving deep into data sources, identifying root causes of discrepancies, and implementing solutions to ensure the highest standards of financial reporting
- Share findings and recommendations with senior leaders to influence data-driven decision making, while mentoring junior team members and contributing to continuous process improvements
A day in the life
You'll start your day running SQL queries to extract the latest cost data and validate actuals against forecasts, then shift to analyzing variances and preparing commentary for the weekly business review. Mid-morning, you'll join a remote meeting with finance partners in Tokyo and Sydney to align on cross-area cost narratives before consolidating insights for leadership. In the afternoon, you'll collaborate with a business leader in Singapore on an upcoming headcount decision, updating your financial model to reflect different scenarios. You'll wrap up by refining a cost forecast presentation for next week's monthly business review, knowing your analysis will directly inform strategic decisions across the region.
