About the role

Amazon is seeking a Senior Tax Analyst to join the Withholding Tax team in our India office. As a member of the Withholding Tax team, the Senior Tax Analyst is responsible for understanding & operationalizing withholding tax requirements to ensure compliance with tax identity collection, withholding determination and information reporting requirements. You will also be required to handle end-to-end queries from vendors/ sellers/business, identify customer-impacting issues, and implement solutions and processes to scale customer satisfaction. You will collaborate with tax, accounting, and audit teams, leveraging your expertise to drive process improvements, enhancing controls and deliver scalable solutions. Your work will directly contribute to optimizing our operations, controllership and ensuring compliance as our business grows.

A highly organized self-starter with excellent communication and time management skills will be successful on this team. The candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, is customer-focused, self-motivated and prioritizes multiple tasks in a deadline-driven and dynamic environment.

Key job responsibilities
Own end-to-end identity collection, validation and query management for payees across assigned regions including collection, review, and maintenance of tax forms and associated documents.

Track key metrics for identity coverage, documentation accuracy, and processing timeliness to surface compliance gaps and inform decisions.

Engage cross-functionally to leverage technology for efficient results.

Lead testing for country launches and system enhancements — design test scenarios, document defects, and validate fixes ahead of production deployment.

Lead process improvement initiatives — identify automation and simplification opportunities, author and maintain SOPs, and drive reduction in manual effort.

Collaborate with global teams to implement tax controllership initiatives, develop risk management strategy for key risk areas, gaps in existing processes and controls.

Provide internal and external audit support. Monitor and track for ACS 450/FAS5 tax contingencies. Maintain, enhance, monitor and document controls.

Basic qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or related field
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
- Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department
